This workshop will open your eyes to innovative ways to use AI for editing without making your writing bland.
You will try out a series of editing prompts on sample content, to help you with both big-picture thinking to tell an engaging story and with sentence-by-sentence improvements to bring your text to life. You will also create customised instructions to help AI spot and suggest changes to language that doesn’t match your writing style.
The heart of the workshop is interweaving manual steps with AI support. You’ll come away with a strong sense of which editing steps you want to do yourself, and where AI can provide useful support.
Participation will give you the opportunity to:
Anyone in business, community organisations or councils who wants to streamline their editing process without losing their voice.
This workshop is hands-on. You will try out the prompts with sample content and leave with a brand voice guide and a set of editing prompts you can keep using. No prior AI experience is needed.
Please bring up to three short pieces of your own writing that are relevant to the work you do.
I help organisations turn inconsistent, hard-to-track AI use into a shared way of working. Through training and a ready-to-use prompt library, your team develops a clear sense of where AI genuinely helps – and where to steer clear of it.
It’s essential to maintain ownership of your work, and one of the ways I do that is to interweave manual steps between each use of AI.
I also write strategies, policies and plans for councils and not-for-profit organisations across New Zealand. I’ve been doing this work since 2014 via Writing for Councils, and before than I worked at Nelson City Council in resource management and strategic planning roles.
